Five-time Grammy winner Victor Wooten is one of the the most celebrated bass players in the world. Among other things, Victor is a loving husband and father of four, a skilled naturalist and teacher, a published author, magician, and acrobat. Victor has won every major award given to a bass guitarist, including being voted Bassist of the Year in Bass Player Magazine's readers poll three times (the only person to win it more than once). In 2011, Rolling Stone Magazine voted Victor one of the Top Ten Bassist of ALL TIME.
Legendary drummer Butch Trucks is one of the founding members of the Allman Brothers Band along with Duane Allman (guitar), Gregg Allman (vocals and organ), Dickey Betts (guitar), Berry Oakly (bass), and fellow drummer Jaimoe. He has been the rhythmic backbone of the band for over 40 years. Trucks and fellow Allman Brothers drummer Jaimoe developed a rhythmic drive that has proved crucial to the band. Trucks lays down a powerful conventional beat while Jaimoe adds a second laminate of percussion and the two seamlessly meld into one syncopated sound.
Col. Bruce Hampton
We are absolutely thrilled that musical legend Col. Bruce Hampton will be joining us for the Masters Camp at Sea. To say that Col. Bruce has an impressive resume would be a huge understatement. Over the years, he has formed several bands including Aquarium Rescue Unit and The Codetalkers, and helped start the 90's rock H.O.R.D.E tour. Whether he's playing guitar, mandolin, chazoid, or singing, Col. Bruce Hampton is truly an inspiration and the opportunity to learn from this genuine master is an honor.
Luther Dickinson & Cody Dickinson
Brothers Luther and Cody Dickinson soaked up the music of their father, Memphis music legend Jim Dickinson, and absorbed the North Mississippi Blues legacy while playing and shaking it down at the juke joints with their blues ancestors. Luther (guitar and vocals) and Cody (drums and vocals) formed the North Mississippi Allstars and pioneered their own blues infused rock & roll through the filter of generations of Mississippi Blues men. After more than 15 years as a band, 3 Grammy nominations, and over a dozen records to their name, the North Mississippi Allstars have earned the reputation as one of the most intriguing acts to emerge from the loam of Southern blues and roots rock.
You can tell a lot about a person by the company they keep, and Kofi Burbridge surrounds himself with greatness. The multi-instrumentalist Burbridge plays piano and flute for The Derek Trucks Band as well as the Grammy Award Winning Tedeschi Trucks Band. Dubbed a "musical genius" by Derek Trucks, Kofi's brother is none other than Oteil Burbridge, who will also be joining us on Jam Cruise 12. Kofi is definitely a wealth of knowledge and his participation in the Music Masters Camp at Sea ties it all together.
